What counts as proof of delivery?

• A delivered scan with date, time and sometimes GPS location.
• A delivery photo of the package at the door.
• A signature, when signature confirmation was purchased.

How do stores use it?

Proof of delivery helps you sort claims: a package still in transit is lost, while one scanned as delivered is either misplaced or stolen. It is also the main evidence in chargeback disputes.

Why it is not the end of the story

A delivered scan shows the carrier’s view, not whether the customer has the package. Wrong-door deliveries and porch theft both happen after a valid scan, which is why many stores pair it with a protection policy.

Example

A delivery photo shows a parcel at a neighbor’s door with a different house number. The store asks the customer to check next door, and the package turns up.
